NOT content with your $7000 high-definition TV set? No worries. NHK, Japan’s public broadcaster, is developing an even denser format, dubbed Ultra Hi-Vision. But don’t think about ditching HDTV just yet: UHV is many years away from reality. With a resolution of 4300 lines and with 7680 pixels per line, UHV would offer 16 times the resolution of today’s 1125-line HDTV. NHK says it will look twice as good as a 70-mm movie.
